PUB + APLACE + Four Swedish Designers

On Thursday night we went to the most central department store in Stockholm, PUB, where the store APLACE had arranged an exhibition/party with four Swedish brands: The Local Firm, Minimarket, HOPE and Uniforms for the Dedicated.
You might have seen the dress I wore before in a post, I've re-designed it since then; I cut out a piece of the fabric because I was inspired by Stella McCartney's dress design, check the post here.

Jean Paul Gautier's Couture

After I'd seen Jean Paul Gautier's F/W -12 menswear show I had a feeling that his collection at Couture Week would be just as crazy and colorful. This show had those flavors but was also a tribute to Amy Winehouse; the models walked down the runway in the same hair-do and make-up as the late singer. It was a fantastic show with lots of fierce outfits and candy for all fashionistas. It was much better than what I'd anticipated.

Dior and Armani - Haute Couture Week

My favorite shows from the Haute Couture Week in Paris are Dior and Armani, even though I thought Dior didn't bring anything new to the table. Instead the dresses which the models wore were of an old repertoire; the iconic Dior shape once again referenced the label’s 1950s glory days. Nothing bad in this at all, the magnificent show and the beauty of the models made one forget what time era we're in. I was mesmerized by the couture craftsmanship. When Karlie Kloss walked down the staircase and onto the catwalk, she did it with such elegance and confidence that all the other models looked like debutantes.

The Armani show was more futuristic and the silhouettes intriguing. It was clear that the iconic designer didn’t rely on the old heritage of the house as the other designers did. Everything felt fresh and new, something that is hard to accomplish when you’re creating couture, the skirts looked stunning with their misshaped folding. The collection consisted mostly of jackets with the perfect shape and lots of neon.

Interesting editorial in Vogue Italia

This editorial with Lindsey Wixon in Vogue Italia is amazing in many ways. Firstly the clothes which the stylist have chosen is a perfect selection showing the colors and materials that will be popular this spring. Secondly the setting which the doll and model is placed in is spot-on, also the poses are very interesting (the doll has a plastic bag over its head, has Lindsey killed her?). The hair and make-up couldn't have been better, Lindsey looks like a doll but a high-fashion one.

There's a lot of PVC coats and dresses in different collections this spring (Mulberry has them in a variety of colors, Chanel has a transparent version, then my favorite Richard Nicoll with see-through plastic over the actual garment). Plastic raincoats has become popular these last seasons, many brands are producing them in different designs on a regular basis. I'm wondering if it has to do with the climate change, is it raining more than it used to?

Today's Oufit - brrr

I got my invitation to the Cheap Monday fashion show in the mail today, an hour later I found myself in the wardrobe picking out my CM jeans. You might not believe it but I was oblivious - not thinking about the envelop I'd gotten earlier.

You can't believe the sound the accessories hanging from the knee makes, they resemble silver nails and it's two dozens of them formed like a triangle. It sounds like a bunch of keys are in my pocket and I can't go anywhere unnoticed, so subsequently I can't stand wearing them more than once in a while. Though I can't deny they are rad... I'm so happy I had this warm cap on when we took these photos it was freezing outside.

Chanel S/S Campaign

When I first saw Chanel's campaign I didn't know where it had been taken it could be any ocean in the background that Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls were modeling in front of. But later I checked Chanel's homepage, it wasn't a big surprise Karl and his team had chosen the infamous Cap-Eden-Roc to be the setting for this shoot (it was also where Chanel held their Resort fashion show). The notorious hotel has seen more stars than any equivalent five star housing and is "the" hotspot during Cannes Film Festival. I can tell you now what I wish for: is to stay at this gorgeous sanctuary during the festival. But back to the stunning campaign, I love the setting even if few would use it for high-fashion; trapezes and gymnastic bars high above ocean-level. The sky merging with the water... I dare to say this photo will be highlighted in the history of Chanel (see below), there's something very classical about this picture but it's still today's top models wearing new clothes which stands for the very essence of Chanel (though a remark that should be made is that this photo could have been taken thirty years ago, nothing is clearly saying this is 2012, especially not the garments).
Funny Karl is the only one sitting and everyone else is focused on the magic that is happening. Now we know how many people are needed for a Chanel shoot.

McQueen - Porcelain Dresses

I'm fascinated by the detail and the craftsmanship of the porcelain dresses that Sarah Burton created for the Alexander McQueen F/W collection -11. In an interview on Youtube she said:

"We hand-painted 10 different plates. Then we sort of dissected them as if it was broken, so we did a pattern like it was broken. Then we engineered the image onto a bodice. Then we handcut all the porcelain pieces out from the mold we had. Then we made each of those pieces again individually and numbered them. It was like a jigsaw puzzle.”

I say this idea was a stroke of genius, but they could have elaborated on it even further. Surely it would have been possible to do a whole collection of this theme/material. If I had been asked o remove an element it would have been the white puffy fabric, and for the design to only consist of this beautiful porcelain puzzle.

My new dark green hat was a real bargain, I'll wear it the next time I'm going out at night for a cocktail or whatever... Such a shame you can't see my earrings with pink feathers better, there's not only one chain, it's a bunch of them hanging together (with small pink diamonds).

Hot jewellery you shouldn't miss

Andrea Leiberman, commonly known for being Gwen Stefani's stylist, also has her own clothing line named A.L.C. She recently launched her very first jewellery collection, for Holiday 2012. They are simple minimalistic pieces but with a cool touch. I got interested in them because it's unusual to see twisted nails as a personal adornment. Leiberman told Style Section LA that she strives "to make pieces that are the perfect balance of modern and classic. I want them to feel new now and still feel relevant in 20 years. They are timeless pieces with an edge." This is what most designers strive for but I'll let these photos speak for themselves. You can find the whole collection at Shopbop.

This Month's Style Icon - Eva Green

After seeing the movie The Dreamers (I highly recommend you watch it) with Eva Green for the second time I was certain I should have her as this month's style icon. Her always present charisma is a factor no one can deny. It might be that her eyes are like Mona Lisa's that makes one want to know more. After looking through red carpet photos of Green I got even more interested in her outfit choices which never lacks the classical element and elegance, her French heritage always apparent - she's a huge fan of Dior as many others who seek the true Parisian glamour of a past era. A pleasant surprise was that she also loves Alexander McQueen, often seen with a clutch or dress from the brand.
I'm looking forward seeing her in Tim Burton's new movie opposite Johnny Depp, which will be out in May. Odds are high we will see the film premier in Cannes, then I have no doubt Green will be walking down the carpet in a beautiful gala dress.

Spring Must-Haves

Chanel Ivory Shell Clutch - One of the things that may have generated the most buzz at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 show was clearly this adorable piece. At the show Florence Welch sang “What the Water Gave Me” which seems more than accurate in this fashion setting - underwater world. When writing these lyrics she might not had thought about this accessory in particular, but inside Grand Palais the echo of these words came to life within Karl Lagerfeld’s shell design.
A pair of hot heels - preferably these from Kurt Geiger or Prada's shoes which are on fire this season. The collection Miuccia Prada designed is beyond fantastic with flames sticking out from the heel on wedges and pumps.

Visor - It doesn't need to be this exact visor from Balenciaga's Resort collection, you can always buy one in most vintage stores, it's perfect if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative. Fashionistas in the street and outside of fashion shows will wear this headwear, which fortunately also gives some shade from the sun.

iPhone photos aren't worthy for my readers but I didn't have any choice yesterday, I hope you excuse me. As Harper's Bazaar's street-style photographer Mr Newton said: "you shouldn't post photos on your blog, which you think Vogue wouldn't publish in their magazine". Maybe I should have listened to these wise words, but I wanted to show you the details of my look: the pattern of my new tights, my new bag which I wrote Je t'aime...Moi Non Plus on and this beautiful dress which only consists of a black square pattern in chiffon fabric (which unfortunately you can't see except for the close-up in the last photo). The necklace was a Christmas present from my mother and it ultimately completes the look.

The new Awesome Rags store + Happy Socks

I recently visited the newly opened Awesome Rags store in the heart of Stockholm where they had a small exhibition of the photo campaign shot by Terry Richardson for Happy Socks, starring model Ashley Smith. She seems to be everywhere these days and often when I see her I think about Lara Stone, maybe it's because they have the same smile (teeth gap). She's not doing many high-fashion shoots and ads but instead indie shoots which are pretty cool; like one for Oyster Magazine and the short film Une fille Comme Les Autres for Jalouse Magazine (which I got from beautiful Jeanne Damas who also has a part in it, watch it below).

This had nothing to do with the exhibition but I really liked this cool skirt and the green shoes were fierce.

My favorite campaign photo was Bottega Veneta's featuring Karmen Pedaru, who looks absolutely breathtaking in a green creation which automatically made its way to the top of my wish-list (SOLD!). It's hard to move on to the next one with this picture in my mind...

Valentino had a refreshingly beautiful spring collection for 2012 and it really shows in these photos, an important variable when shooting such an ad. The new designers of the brand has embraced the boho-chic look many Fashionistas crave and the color pallet is just perfect.

Nina Ricci had my favorite fall campaign if you remember and this one is no less impressive. Who doesn't want to run and have the dress look like that moving in the wind (light purple is a plus) and you can barely see that it's the super model Raquel Zimmermann, it's all about the photo and the amazing shadows.

Christmas Special - Way too late...

I didn't have access to these photos until today, hence the late post. They are as you can guess from Christmas eve and some of them from Grand Hotel where I spent most of the day. I recently bought a pair of boots which are very warm and comfy but they also have the perfect appearance for this holiday (green shoe-laces which I can change whenever). In one of the photos you can see the tallest Christmas tree in the world. An unimportant fact, perhaps, in the fashion world, but it really lights up Stockholm, standing next to the water and close to the castle.

It's a white cover which makes it clean as it should be when we're starting a new year with a blank page. But the Balmain dress undeniably stirs things up and Candice's powerful pose makes its mark. The Victoria's Secret model started the year not only with this one but also landed the cover of Harper's Bazaar Turkey.

It's going to be at least tough to achieve something better than this stunning cover, Mara's face looks flawless in the McQueen head piece.

My Year - 2011

2011 started off perfectly. I moved into a beautiful apartment on the top floor with windows pointing at the sky. Two months later we went on a trip to Milan for Fashion Week, the photos on the top are from outside of the D&G fashion show and my favorite look from the year as was it for the street style photographers. My shoes were on the first page of Vogue Italia's website, a cool achievement.
After an amazing trip I was only in Sweden for a few weeks then off to the US and a lot of great parties in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Three weeks later back to Sweden in time for late spring; Facehunter was shooting a film for Armani (Frames of Life) and I met up with him and starred in the film that was shown at Paris fashion Week and a photo of me was placed among others in Tulliers.
For Mid Summer we traveled to the island Gotland and celebrated among friends. One day after arriving back home in the capital, we took the train to the west coast and attended Where the Action Is and I had an opportunity to meet Glasvegas. When summer ended it was time for my birthday and I got to see the Bolshoi ballet, a long time wish. In the end of September I went to the US again and stayed until the middle of December in the warm sun... Happy New Year!

Tommy Hilfinger did a funny video for this holiday season, it reminds me somewhat of the movie Royal Tenenbaums. You might remember some of the characters in the movie played by Anjelica Huston, Gwenyth Paltrow, Gene Hackman, Luke Wilson and Ben Stiller. This Hillfinger commercial also reminds me of Lanvin's commercial when Karen Elson and Raquel Zinnerman dances to a Pitbull hit. I would prefer to celebrate Christmas with the Tenenbaums family rather than the models in this video who are just dressed up as these funny people in preppy clothes...

On My Mind

First and foremost the neon clothes in the photo (on the top) is really incredible and exactly the type of look I want to wear this spring. It looks like it could be Christopher Kane but I'm not 100% sure, if you know I hope you make a comment.

Secondly this winter it seems to be tremendously popular with long knits, on my wish list you'll find a long cardigan from ADAM (not shown in the picture above).

Thirdly there has been a lot of talk these last weeks about Karlie Klosse's body and I'm definitely on the side that thinks the picture of her is not photoshopped. For you who are unfamiliar with this rumor, it all started after Karlie appeared naked in an editorial in Vogue Italia. One will find evidence for her perfectly sculptured body in the video Vogue released and you can read Grarance Doré's blog where she states that this beautiful model lives a very healthy lifestyle. I think these photos taken by master Steven Meisel really makes people desire a more healthy lifestyle, she is clearly not anorectic (she has muscles).

The fourth photo shows the window display at Dolce & Gabbana's store. It makes me want to fast forward to Christmas eve and dinner time. But at the same time I get anxious, I haven't found the perfect holiday dress yet.

Last but not least Karl Lagerfeld will be the global guest editor for Metro International newspapers. “The World According to Karl” edition will kick off the Metro’s Fashion Week coverage. This is exciting as is his new line which will be released soon at Net-a-porter. Someone posted this photo on Facebook, it looks like it's taken in Russia. They seem somewhat early it's not until the 7th of February it will be released.

My last photos from my US trip

The last two days in the US I spent in Los Angeles and one of those days I was dressed like this. At the evening it got really cold so I put on a coat over this outfit. When it was dark we went to the Getty Museum which is located high up on a hill, we took the tram up and wondered around the gallery halls and looked at the amazing permanent collection. The view from this location is splendid, it might have been even more breath taking if it had been day light. But there is still something very enjoyable about walking around a building with such impressive architecture, also the sound of all the fountains are very soothing. A perfect end to my trip, I'll definitely miss the weather, my friends and my dear sister.

Last weekend I attended the FACE/OFF competition and party at the famous Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood. It's a big and fresh warehouse they've transformed into an enormous photo studio (almost like a hangar) where many of the covers and editorials you see in fashion magazines and other leading lifestyle papers are shot.
When I first walked into the building from a side entrance I walked through a gallery where all of the nominated photos in the competion were hanging. There are four categories: fashion, advertising, celebrity and editorial. I told my crew I thought the striking photo of a woman floating in a pool with a huge red fabric underneath her was my favorite and a possible first place candidate (later I heard the news that it had won).

This Month's Style Icon - Josephine de la Baume

Josephine de la Baume doesn't only have a name which sound exotic, she's also a former Agent Provocateur model and as you can tell by "de la..." she's French. Recently she married Mark Ronson, a British DJ. The first photos I saw from the wedding where when checking Purple Diary (Zahm a friend to the couple.) Later I saw photos in Vogue (US) that showed the beauty of Josephine's wedding dress designed by Zac Posen. If you have such hot haircolor and dresses like in these photos you're well deserving to be one of this year's Style Icons. Remember, December is one of the most important months for me because it's the time when one reflects over the fashion year that has been. This girl really made her mark this year and it ended very well for her with a beautiful wedding (cover story in the magazine Jaoluse) and one of the best dressed at the British Fashion Awards.

Back Home in Sweden

How better to celebrate the arrival back home (Stockholm) than with some beautiful photos taken by Sølve Sundsbø. He might not be from Sweden but he's still Nordic and his exhibition "Pictures from Savage Beauty" is showing here in town at Gun Gallery and ends in two days (18 December). I'll have to see it this weekend, looking forward to it very much. These pictures are from Vogue China (December), Carra Delevingne looks like an angel wearing only white throughout the editorial. I fell for the Louis Vuitton dress (above) and subsequently the Givenchy piece (below).

I've selected my favorite looks from Chanel's Metiers d'art collection, Paris-Bombay. The set for the catwalk show inside Grand Palais was decorated for a Raj with banquet tables, hugh chandeliers (one can hope that the audience saw through them), golden plates, fruits and sweets as far as the eye could see. The models walked in front of a dinner for royalties wearing a lot of silk fabrics but also classical Chanel tweed. The garments surprisingly didn’t scream India (none of the models wore saris) but the accessories really helped with that bit; the models had Teekas on their forehead hanging down from a head accessory, a shawl covering the hair or a turban on the head, jewellery chains hanging from the hair attached to the nose. These were the details which gave some extra Indian magic.

Me with James Franco's ass under my arm

Last week I met up with two guys who both work for Flaunt magazine. We had some Champagne in their hotel room at Hard Rock Hotel (the photo above is from the lobby) and thumbed through the magazine. I'd never heard of this cool paper before and I don't understand how it could've passed me by. Later I googled Flaunt and rediscovered something, I'd seen their editorials at the Fashion Gone Rogue site a couple of times. One of them really caught my eye with supermodel Stephanie Seymour rockin "only" and lots of Azzedine Alaïa creations. A couple of spreads like that in a paper makes one impressed - to have a model wear solely one designer.
Something else I found out after my research was that they really have the most stunning covers like the two below which are prime examples: Naomi Campbell sitting in front of a wall of bleach packages, a hole in the wall shows us a war zone outside, next to her is a machine gun.. I could comment a lot more about this but I'll leave it at that; the other one with Joaquin Phoenix is memorable and it could well have been Johnny Cash setting fire to his guitar. But not only this, the content of the paper was really intriguing.
This specific number I got from my friends actually had a lot of interviews plus pictures of cast members of Boardwalk Empire (my favorite tv-show right now). Which means photos of too cool for school Paz de la Huerta (my style icon of the month some time ago).

My weekend - LA and a Masquerade

On Friday night we went to see the band Lord Huron play at Mondrian's Skybar, which just so you know has the most amazing view over Los Angeles. Beautiful music filled my ears, their sound are very similar to Fleet Foxes but still with a bit poppier sound. The audience were dancing in front of the pool, I was surprised no one jumped in. After the Mondrian Session we drove a block or two on Sunset Boulevard to find ourselves at Chateau Marmont's bar.
On Saturday we made our way to Ruby Room to attend a fashion show and the theme for the night wasmasquerade (everyone was supposed to wear Venetian masks) . I purchased the first one I could find, nothing special - not like the ones that people wore to Vogue Paris 90th anniversary masquerade ball.

Johan Lindeberg left his brand J Lindeberg a few years back, having designed there for 13 years. He said it was a tough decision and it took two years to get used to the idea, adding that “Helmut Lang did it and also Yves Saint Laurent towards the end, left their company which had their name”.
Today he’s focusing all energy and design skills on his new label BLK DNM. He’s moved from Sweden to New York where the label has its store and where Johan is seen frequently out and photographed by Style.com. Purple Magazine editor-in-chief, and friend to Johan, Olivier Zahm is a splendid contact to have in the fashion world. Zahm recently shot the J Lindeberg Biannual Book (see video below.) Lamont Park has an amazing view over San Diego, you can't see it in these photos but if you were standing there you would see the beautiful skyline. I jog, walk the dog and picnic there, also it's never too crowded at these fields of grass. I felt like being colorful and decided to wear hot pink, which is something I don't do too often. I have few garments in this nuance, thinking about it now I might have none except this dress...

Vogue Italia's editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani covers Industrie magazine. She looks powerful wearing a black patent leather trench coat (it might be Burberry). The pose and the jacket represents her well not only because she's a strong lady who is determined to make a mark in fashion history, but she also has a great vision. She's made Vogue Italia into what I think is the foremost of Vogue magazines.
Her vision of art and fashion co-existing, that the two are linked, is why she thinks it's very important to leave a large section to art in the magazine, as well as to work with photographers who knows how to capture fashion as art (like Steven Meisel).

I would dare to say that they have the best website of all national Vogue editions, especially now with recently launched Encyclo. Her blog is such an inspiration because she's a rebel, what she writes might often be controversial but it should be that way. She likes to mix in politics and news. In the aftermath of last year's BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico she did more "than ruffle feathers. She drenched them in oil. "
It's worth reading the article about her in Time Magazine. It won't give you the whole picture but will show some of the rebel that is Franca (click here). Read how she transformed Vogue Italia into one of the world's most influential fashion magazines.

The model Heather Marks nailed two covers this month, as you can see here, both for Vogue Hellas and Harper's Bazaar Turkey. Marks in a nude colored chiffon dress standing in a garden - the perfect background for this dress.

I think the emeralds made me put it on this list and this because I'm currently in a phase where I'm craving green jewels. Without those earrings and the ring on her finger, it would be a photo of a beautiful girl but it wouldn't be a cover.

Sipping Chanel with a straw..

I ask, what do you drink? Chanel No.5 with a straw... I think not, it would taste horrible but it's the comic in this and also the whit that makes this editorial photo cool and fun at the same time. The stylist at Elle (France) did a great job putting together the look below, with the beautiful Céline jacket and the Dior necklace shaped as the most magnificent rose. Something I'm not sure about though is having Converse as head-phones...

Hotel Del Coronado

This Sunday we took a trip to Coronado island where the famous Hotel del Coronado is located. It is one of the few surviving examples of an American architectural genre, the wooden Victorian beach resort. It looks like a stunning palace situated on a beautiful beach. Lucky us we got to witness something special; the hotel had built an ice-rink where people could skate under the shade of palm trees.

Terry's photography beckons...

Terry Richardson is truly a great fashion photographer, his editorials never stops to inspire. There's always something crazy and fun going on which intrigues. But something that is very rare with cameramen like this, who takes on everything from high fashion photos for iD-Magazine to a small campaign shoot for Happy Socks, is that he can distance himself from his "craziness" and create a magical spread which is clean, like this one, and lacks the "Terry stamp". Though he rarely does one like this, he only shoots this type of editorial for magazines like Vogue and, his latest one for Harper's Bazaar, with the model Eniko Mihalik.

Here in California the winter season is behind the corner and for all I know it may already have hit Europe. When I go back to Stockholm to celebrate Christmas it will definitely look like in these photos which means snow literally everywhere. Some might find it hard to dress up and look elegant in winter wonderland. But don't worry, you can always get inspiration from what Eniko is wearing in these photos. I've fallen in love with the stunning red fur, it looks very cozy.

I want to explain one more thing about Terry and how I discovered him, I'm not a 100% sure but I think it was two years ago when I was reading Purple Diary, Oliver Zahms blog. If you didn't already know they are good friends and collaborators on Purple Magazine. I saw a picture of him from a party Zahm had attended and I didn't think much of him and his outfit which I know today as his "uniform"; a checked shirt red and blue, light blue denims and always he's wearing a pair of big retro glasses (70's style). You can buy small replica dolls of Terry wearing his usual outfit and recently he made fun of this by having the doll in an editorial.

One might ask themselves if there is any celebrity he hasn't taken a photo of. If you Google him you'll find a photo with him and President Obama, smiling as always and making thumbs up which is a reoccurring pose he does in photos. I check out his diary often and see which models he's shooting, Lindsey Wixon seems to be his muse right now.
Something I read a while ago is that he's dating a former aide to Hillary Clinton, which came as a shock to me because I thought he was gay after seeing countless photos of him with half naked men. Terry's most recent project is a coffee table book with photos he's taken of Lady Gaga when he followed her around the globe. This is what Gaga wrote about Terry in the book:

“Terry finds beauty in the most intricate and unassuming of places. His photography beckons the question over and over again: ‘Should there ever be limitations in art?’ Because when he captures me in a moment of such tandem and artistic human purity, I’m convinced the answer is that we must push the boundaries of culture through love and acceptance,”

ArtsNFashion Magazine Launch Party

Last weekend I attended the launch for a new magazine in San Diego, ArtsNFashion; what better combination for a paper than two of my favorite subjects. The event was held at Alexander Salazar's Fine Art, a cool gallery in Downtown offering contemporary works of established and striving artists (Jefferson Airplane singer Grace Slick will have an exhibition there next weekend). My camera battery died when I arrived at the party so I only have one photo from inside the gallery, see below.

The sun is shining and its warm in the gardens. I decided to pour myself a glass of raspberry lemonade and read the new STYLE.COM print, which I received very late last Friday. I had been waiting a week for it to arrive and finally it did. With excitement I opened it and looked through it, but there wasn't many long articles which I had hoped for. It was more the type of paper that you thumb through and look at the photos from various collections and parties, and a long "sort of a editorial" with the cover model Lindsey Wixon (where a photographer follows her to various cities). Though I must say that it was the best from the Style.com site; there are style notes, "get the look", "top ten best dressed" and many more top ten lists like new models, party animals, bags, collections, etc.

You can see which collection has had the most page views, something I think they just put in to fill the pages, totally irrelevant. But having Tommy Ton's images on glossy paper is something special that I always wanted, so that I can cut them out and put them on my fridge or my bulletin board. Another positive thing, a breeze of fresh air in the paper, is that if you compare with other magazines there aren't too many advertisement pages.

There are a few segments which really caught my eye like. "Le Clique, C'est Chic" where the editors made circles and placed various fashion designers and people of the fashion crowd so the reader can see the relations between everyone and who's connected. Another one is "a fashion map" of the city of Milan which was beautifully put together with drawings and photos, and I must add that it's a very accurate map (a note from someone who's recently visited the city for fashion week). A page which was fun to look through was "tweet chic" featuring tweets from diverse fashion profiles. It must have been hard just picking a few.
The format of the print might be the most appealing thing of all, we'll see how this paper evolves after a few seasons. It will be released semi-annually. I'll finish off this post with a quote from the editor-in-chief Dirk Standen:

"Watching the shows this season, there was a nagging feeling that something was out of whack. At a time when we have witnessed an Arab Spring and a Wall Street Occupation where was the sense of rebellion that is the lifeblood of fashion? (It may be a few years before we realize what the loss of Galliano and McQueen means.)"

Four words that define the clothes in Ulyana Sergeenko's lookbook: elegant, sophisticated, flirty and sexy. Something tells me I've spotted her creations before, but then I can't really place where I've seen them. I can't imagine how such exquisite creations passed me by. All of her garments have defining lines and shows the curves of a woman's body beautifully. I recently read in Style.com's magazine that she might be en route to Louis Vuitton and wouldn't that be great? I would be frilled if they picked a fresh designer like Ulyana. She clearly has the right vision and creates the most feminine clothes.

I should have done this a long time ago but finally I have put up a list of links, "Daily Reads", that you'll find to the left if you scroll down, just under archives. It's a list of blogs I follow in alphabetical order, so it's important to note that the list is not sorted by favorites. Also the photo above is just a random selection of blogs. There is such a large amount of blogs I follow in Goggle Reader and I was not able to put them all in my list.

I will add new blogs I find inspiration from to my list as time passes by. One thing I think is very important for all bloggers is to share links between each other and create networks. Recently I read an interview with a well-known blogger and this person was asked which fashion blogs she reads. The answer was "none"; this got me puzzeled and resentful. How can a fellow blogger not want to check out other similar pages when the person is in the same "business"/ has the same interests? How will one improve if not by looking at other bloggers?

There is surely a bunch out there who think that if a blog is successful then it has to have a lot of readers and the other way around. It might be true... Something that is important for those who have a large amount of readers (some may say successful) is to share were they find inspiration, and everyone should consider adding a list or have a reoccurring segment (post on the blog) with up-and-coming blogs. There are a few out there who do this and you know how great you are. I enjoy finding new blogs I never visited before. I always feel I want to share "finds" with my readers.

This Month's Style Icon - Julia Sarr Jamois

First time I saw Julia Sarr Jamois was outside Moshino's fashion show at Milan Fashion Week. It was in March this year; she looked stylish as always and Mr Newton was standing in front of her trying to snap the best angle for Harper's Bazaar. I was not far away from her, getting my own picture taken by another street-style photographer and glancing over my shoulder to see this style goddess. I did a small post before about one of Julia's maybe most seen outfits, check it out here. I think she's a photographer's dream, always with such variated clothing choices and cool combinations. Singing in the old bars, Swinging with the old stars...

Autumn has finally made it's way to California and when I say finally it's not in a positive sens. Colder winds and freezing nights are what lay ahead for us in this beach and palm filled state. Some trees lose their leafs others don't, it may still look like summer here except on the photo above (it's taken for you Europeans at home, I don't want you to only see tanned and bare legs).
We went to this venue we never sat foot in before, it was the hipster joint named "El Dorado", a cocktail lounge with a mix of Mexican decor and Old West-inspired style. They get lots of kudos for booking a great female DJ this evening.

1. (on the left) Rosie Huntington Whitley in an editorial for Vogue (Germany), the red leather coat from Burberry is just divine.
2.: David Lynch standing with Karl Lagerfeld and Vanessa Paradis. Mario Testino in the background with a facial expression that looks a little bit forced (he might be feeling he needs to look away...). But that's not what's on my mind, I'm thinking about Lynch and his new club in Paris Silencio, which I'm dreaming about visiting when I'm back in Paris. One more thing: I'm always thinking about Karl and what he's up to next (click here). I also wonder if Vanessa and Johnny Depp has split or if it's just rumors...
3. (on the left), Victoria's Secret held their yearly fashion show in New York and Kanye West was one of many who preformed, but what stuck on my mind is this pink leather jacket, I love the scribblings, very cool. I look forward seeing the show on TV in a couple of weeks.
4. The newly opened Gucci Museum in Florence which I would love to visit this upcoming spring. I wrote a post about it on TellusFashion, read it here.
5. A beautiful house with an unbelievable pool and it has the most breathtaking view. I found this photo on thefancy.com ( check out my profile here). The architecture of this house is on my mind but this site is really addictive, I can't stop looking at pictures and I'm bursting with inspiration.

We Are Handsome

I've seen a lot of "We Are Handsome" creations lately, street-style photos of girls wearing their designs and I've also noticed many bloggers are rockin their tights. The name of the label has unbelievably passed me by until yesterday, when I was checking Smashbox Studios blog "yello!" (a creative cultural blog), which I often do because it's very informative about cool stuff and happenings (like events in LA). If your unfamiliar with Smashbox they have three studios in the LA area (their most famous in West Hollywood, where many of the top magazine shoot their covers) and one in Boston . But back to the Aussie based swimwear label, which is on everybody's lips right now. I wouldn't say no to the body with a reindeer or the dress with a bear head.

We skipped lunch unintentionally, so why not a piece of cherry pie we thought...? But then we decided upon something that would still our hunger more, we went for loads of sushi. We ordered in plates of different tasty rolls and a Bento Box. I wish Sweden would adopt the Sushi chefs here in California and make all kinds of rolls with cream cheese, tempura and other delicious ingredients. All the main-stream restaurants in Sweden only serves two types of sushi, just rice with salmon on top and rolls with cucumber, crab stick and mayo, they need to spice it up some more.

A stroll around beautiful Balboa, a cultural park, where you can find San Diego Museum of Art, photographic arts and natural history museums, a botanical garden, a theater, the Spanish Art Village and many interesting buildings. It was a hot and sunny day. After we had visited "Museum of Man" we sat down for a picnic on a meadow overlooking the Japanese garden. Just relaxing under the shade of a tree with treats like different cheeses, wine, crackers and grapes . I wish every day could be like this one...

Vogue Australia goes to Africa with two Western models

Vogue Australia's December issue made me upset but at the same time one must recognize the flawless styling (referring to the Kate Fogarty shoot). Isabel Lucas covers this issue and in big letters it's printed "Fashion Gone Wild". I was shocked that they had two very extensive editorials shot in Africa, but it wasn't this which got me on my toes. It would have been fine if they had gone with only "Isabel in Africa" but doing another shoot without having an African model representing the country (whichever they photographed in) isn't particularly wise. We all know that "white" models dominate, which means that they're hired for most photo-jobs in the industry's biggest magazines. Few mention this and fashion bloggers are often criticized for just not criticizing the papers out there.
After Interview Magazine's issue last year which caused quite the stir with Daria Werbowy posing among a group of African models, many wrote that the editorial showed Daria as a star among "random" models who were just accessories, and one got the feeling that there were racist undertones. Refinery29 wrote at the time something that is very true: "Fashion is at its core a political and social product—how power relationships are set up in editorials can speak volumes." (Tip! Watch this video clip with Nick Knight at ShowStudio.com about "political fashion.")
I can see how the people behind Vogue Australia might have been thinking that they were on this beautiful continent, where they had their photographer Max Doyle on location and their fashion editor acting as a stylist, and when they had traveled so far why don't do two photo-shoots, but still they could have chosen another model other than their favorite Katie Fogarty.

It was really hard choosing someone to dress up as, but finally I decided to be Brigitte Bardot in her music video "Comic Strip" with Serge Gainsbourg. You can watch it here, because Youtube wouldn't let me embed it but I'm posting a photo of her below.

Hiding in the shade of a palm tree

My Favorite Swedish Model

Elsa Hosk in Free People's Book

Elsa Hosk might be my favorite Swedish model but there are several stars from my home coutry who might be more "successful" models like Frida Gustavsson, Sigrid Agren and Sara Blomqvist. The export of Swedish models to all the main fashion weeks are becoming a trend. Maybe because our countrymen and women seem to produce such beautiful creatures with pure faces and long-legged, thus perfect for the modeling profession. Elsa is a little bit shorter than her fellow colleagues and therefore gets more commercial gigs while not often seen in high-fashion ads or walking down the catwalk for the elite fashion houses. You might have seen her this year at the runway only at London fashion week; one of few shows she did was Sass & Bide (S/S 2012). She's also a Victoria Secret model and lately she's been featured a lot on their website. The most recent work she's done is appearing in the brand Free People's book. But I think she might be most famous for her Guess by Marciano ads which have been plastered all over the world at large billboards.

You might have noticed a new icon in the left corner "Writes for TellusFashion", I'm happy to announce that I'll be writing about general fashion news and you should check the blog frequently for interesting posts. This is a brand new site and it's focus lies on upcoming designers and the best thing is that you can buy their clothes at the site, click here. There's a lot of beautiful and unique pieces, I'll post my must-haves soon.
Not only will striving designers be able to promote themselves on the website but everyone working in the fashion industry, even if your a fashion journalist or stylist you can create a profile on this site.
The release-party for the site will be held in late November in London, if you'd like to attend enter this competition. It's going to be a night to remember with a hot fashion show.

This is still my blog and my activity here will not diminish. But I'm looking forward to growing with TellusFashion.

One night we went to Foster the People's afterparty and we had the chance to see them DJ and then we danced all night long. You know Karl Lagerfeld is one extremely busy man when he's juggling designing for Chanel, Fendi and his own label (which has been put on hold for the moment). As if that wasn't enough, this year he's been filming commercials for the ice cream brand GB (Magnum), designing glasses with the well-known Swedish Orrefors Kosta Boda, re-designing the Coca Cola light bottle... And not only this, he's a photographer and his photos are often seen in all the renowned fashion magazines. Surely I have missed something, but I don't need to mention more for you to get the idea of how hectic this man's life is. Then we can understand why he had to put the Lagerfeld label on hold. But Net-a-Porter reminded me that Karl's new designs will be available in January 2012 in their store and I'm very enthusiastic about it! Though I'm very surprised that he did find the time for it.

Many fashion blogs out there don't usually report on Ukraine's Fashion Week and the same goes for me, it's always passed me by - but not this year. I wasn't mightily impressed by what I saw until I found the brand LUVI and their spring collection. The models that came down the runway were dressed in fierce black and white creations and the looks above really stole the show. The outfits included tailored jackets, symbolic crosses, interestingly cut leather jackets, tights in a shimmery fabric and a lot of black transparent material.
The only thing I wasn't fond of was that the models walked barefooted on a catwalk with some stones scattered on it. I can see why they had no shoes, the designer might have wanted them to be more "down to earth", maybe she had a vision of free spirits. But I looked at a video from LUVI's fall collection -11 and the models were once again walking with nothing on their feet, and they stepped on what looked like a string of salt over the runway. I think these looks would have been even more impressive with some McQueen inspired heels.

My face was actually the first thing I saw when I clicked on the tab "Video" on FashionWeek's website.

It's a shame if you have missed the hipster magazine RIKA, though who can blame you--they might be more famous for their Parisian parties with guests from the fashion elite than the actual (cool) paper. If you haven't thumbed through it I recommend that you buy a copy or check out their blog. Because in their latest issue a few interesting profiles have been interviewed like Yoko Ono and Jamie Bochert (who is also featured on the cover). I must add that I was really drawn to the stunning photo of Jamie, lying on a fabulous green couch.

Jag hoppas ni inte missat hipster tidningen RIKA, jag kan dock inte klandra er då den är mer kända för sina storslagna fester i Paris med modeeliten än det faktiskt coola magasinet. Om ni inte bläddrat igenom en upplaga rekommenderar jag att ni köper ett ex. eller kollar in deras blogg. I senaste numret finnar man flera intressanta intervjuer med t.ex. Yoko Ono och Jamie Bochert. En bild som verkligen fick mig att fastna för deras senaste upplaga var den ovan på Jamie som slappar på en grön sammetssoffa.

Old Town - Wild wild west outfit

I visited Old Town, where the earliest European settlement on the West Coast was established. To get in the right state of mind or just to feel pretty for the day, I put on a white dress with big shoulders, a western inspired belt and completed the look by having pony-tails and some flowers in my hair.
It might look like an amusement park, but there are actually a lot of interesting museums on these grounds. We stepped by the office of the first newspaper in this region (San Diego Union), the first courthouse, the first school etc. They had restored the beautiful Cosmopolitan Hotel (where fashionable people stayed at the time) and in one restaurant they had begun preparations for "Dia de los muertos" (Day of the Dead).
After walking around for some hours I found myself wanting to see a western movie. In the car back home I closed my eyes and dreamt of the fashion in those days; the long and voluminous skirts...the corset-like tops with puffy shoulders...cowboy boots and hats...

Isabeli Fontana (in Vogue Mexico) wearing a pair of unique pants with one black leg and one white. Which is undeniably a very rare sighting but something that looks very appealing. Not only this, I love the leather jacket with short sleeves and the shapes of it are really distinctive.

Modellen Isabeli Fontana bär en byxa med ett svart och ett vitt ben i ett modereportage för Vogue Mexico. Det är en unik byxa helt klart, inget man ser varje dag och den tilltalar mig verkligen. Jag föll även för läderjackan med korta ärmar där kanterna är så perfekt skurna, väldigt utmärkande.

No Autumn in California yet

First we popped by Yoghurtland for some tasty fruits and then a a stroll on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean, an ordinary day over here. But later we found ourselves in Downtown at a beautiful club, which has a cool lobby almost like a small library. Then I must mention the toilets which usually don't have a large painting hanging in the bathroom but here they do. The girl painted on the canvas really resembles the model Karlie Kloss in a way...

Först gick vi förbi Yoghurtland, ett stopp man inte får missa på vägen. Begäret efter fryst yoghurt med bär och frukter blev för stort. Därefter en promenad vid strandkanten, något som sker nästan varje dag här. Senare begav vi oss till "downtown" och hamnade på en mysig klubb där lobbyn är utformad som ett vackert litet bibliotek. Sedan får jag inte glömma att nämna toaletterna som ovanligt nog hade en ansenlig stor målning. Kvinnan som porträtterats på tavlan liknar onekligen modellen Karlie Kloss.

I can't believe how much that painting looks like Karlie Kloss or at least a little.

This Month's Style Icon - Caroline Sieber

Caroline Sieber is clearly a Chanel girl in a class of her own, in a sense that she wears it more than often (which is displayed in these photos). There are so many pictures of her wearing the brand, and I can't blame her, it's hot!
If you didn't already know she's a successful stylist who dresses Emma Watson among others. I don't want to bore you with too many details, there are so many posts on blogs, the big fashion magazines and forums about this socialite and her incredible taste in clothes. I think these outfits represent her more than well, and you get the idea that this is no ordinary woman: she has a style every one aspires to have.

Caroline Sieber är som ni ser en Chanel-flicka i alla bemärkelser, hon bär märkets kläder mer än ofta vilket ni kan se på några av bilderna ovan. Det finns näst intill oändligt med foton på henne i Karl Lagerfelds kreationer.
Om ni inte redan hade vetskap om detta, så arbetar hon som stylist för bland annat Emma Watson. Jag vill inte tråka ut er med för många detaljer kring Siebers bakgrund, för det finns obegränsat med artiklar i de stora modemagasinen, inlägg på bloggar och diskussioner på diverse forum om hennes eleganta och attraktiva klädval. Denna kvinna är ett socialt fenomen i modekretsar och helt enkelt ingen ordinär kvinna utan hon besitter en stilkänsla som de flesta eftersträvar men aldrig riktigt lyckas med.

Walking my dog Simba

When you're walking the dog in California, whether it's San Diego or Los Angeles the neighborhoods change from one block to another. First you might see pretty green lawns ,then dry ones, later a beautiful painting of dolphins, seconds later you're in a back alley. If you're on a "good" street which means a safe one, on the end of that street there might be a not as nice neighborhood.
This day was special though, the police seemed interested in what we were doing, we minding our own business just snapping some photos for the blog. The police car parked on the opposite corner of us, so strange. Maybe they where enyoing the view, looking at a mini photo-shoot or what ever...

Paule Ka Spring 2012

I just discovered the French brand Paule Ka and thought I had to share it with you guys. I love the shoes with straps up to the knee, in booth bronze and black. The knit dress looks comfy and chic, the transparent skirt looks super cool, but I don't know about having so little under the coat; it's better if you can see a dress under it.

Jag upptäckte nyligen det franska märket Paule Ka och jag hade inga tvivel, utan kände att jag behövde dela med mig av detta till er. Jag älskar nämligen skorna med band virade om smalbenet, både i brons och svart. Den stickade klänningen ser riktigt mysig ut och mycket trendriktig, den genomskinliga plastkjolen väckte mitt intresse direkt då den verkligen sticker ut och sedan den genomskinliga regnkappan som blivit allt vanligare, tycker jag är cool men man borde bära något mer täckande under som en klänning.

When you're in California you can't miss that on too many street corners there are bums or maybe it's better to call them homeless people, standing face dirty and sometimes with a sign that says they need some money to live.
So when I found this editorial from the French magazine Antidote, I thought it was appropriate for the subject.
I'm always thinking that a country as big as the USA should focus more on the people in need in their own country, even though they have a large deficit. It's been a decade of war and sometimes one forget that too many people are living in this country without a roof over their heads.
So back to the fashion world or lala land, the model Magdalena Frackowiak channels her inner bum in these photos. I must say that th stylist of Antidote did a great job and they choose some great locations in Paris. If you haven't heard of this paper before check it out, it's definitely an up and comer in my book.

Thread Show, Little Italy Fiesta and..

This Sunday we went to Thread Show, a fashion event in Horton Plaza, where emerging designers showcase their work. I walked around for a while and checked out all the indie designers, though my interest was drawn to an artist who was painting live (see photo further down). After this we got really hungry and walked over to Little Italy where it was a big fiesta with thousands of people walking the streets, eating delicious Italian food and listening to a singer preforming Nessun Dorma (Puccini) live. After eating too many meatballs with pasta we stepped by this amazing art gallery and later found ourselves walking in the harbor smelling the ocean.

I söndags besökte vi Thread Show - en tillställning där modedesigners som är nykomlingar kan visa upp sina kläder, smycken och handväskor. Vi gick en snabb runda på den lilla modemässan men det jag fann mest intressant var faktiskt en konstnär som stod och målade på ett verk som var märkt "Art kills artists" (se bilden längst ner). Efter detta hade vi självklart blivit hungriga och begav oss till en annan del av staden: området "Little Italy", där det hölls en stor gatufest med flera tusen människor; små stånd hade ställts upp där det serverades italiensk mat och en sångare uppträde med den berömda arian Nessun Dorma (från Puccinis Turandot). Några köttbullar med pasta senare begav vi oss på en promenad i hamnen för att beskåda det glittrande havet.

Carine Rotifeld's ball was held at the renowned club Raspoutine in Paris, not an important fact but I visited this spot frequently when I was living there. So back to what I was saying, one of the absolute hottest models right now is Karlie Kloss. Of course she attended this party and was wearing an extremely cool dress which was showing not too much but not nearly little. I would love to wear it on Halloween or on another occasion...

Carine Rotifeldl höll en bal under modeveckan i Paris på klubben Raspoutine, en av mina favoritställen när jag bodde i den vackra staden. Dots - The Hottest Trend Now

Stella McCartney really made a dress concept that has rocked the fashion world, it's been in all magazines worth mentioning (every stylist wants to work with this dress) and not only this: the dots (in all sizes) are the hottest trend this fall. I was so infatuated with this dress design because it's sexiness was overwhelming; black transparent garment revealing the whole side of one's body was really the concept that took it to another level. I wrote about it a while ago here. I recently found Stella's jumpsuit which is as hot as the dress and has the same thing going on one side or maybe both sides...

Stella McCartney har verkligen lyckats med att skapa säsongens hetaste klänning i många meningar. Denna design har synts i alla modemagasin värda att nämna och alla stylister verkar vilja arbeta med den. Men inte bara detta utan Stella har också lyckats skapat en trend som lätt till att allt i klädväg kommer ha prickar på sig höst, på gott och ont.
Men jag är mer intresserad av klänningens transparent sida som skapar dess sexighet och antagligen gjorde att den slog igenom så stort. Nyligen upptäckte jag att det även finns en jumpsuit i höstkollektionen som även den har en transparent sida.

Another hot day in San Diego, I'm so happy I'm here and not in cold and rainy Sweden. By now most of the trees are starting to loose their leaves and the color of autumn is fading quickly. Here flowers are still blooming and the palm trees stand tall and green as always. I wish for the people at home that our small but lovely country could see a longer period of summer.

Ännu en het dag med klarblå himmel här i San Diego och bara ett fåtal moln glider sakta men säkert fram. Jag är mer än lycklig över att vara här och slippa den kalla och regniga hösten i Stockholm. Jag antar att hemma börjar höstens vackra färger försvinna och alla löven ligger smutsiga och blöta på marken, det är gjort för att man ska halka. Men här blommar det fortfarande och palmträden förgyller närvaron. Jag önskar för alla hemma att vårat lilla men underbara land kunde ha en längre sommar.

Magical Paris - Spring 2012

Alexander McQueen

Sarah Burton keeps the legacy of Alexander McQueen alive and she does it with fierce goddess-inspired creations, which seem to be a reoccurring theme. Certainly not every one agrees that the fact that McQueen's controversial era has come to an end is a loss; intermingling politics and women rights issues in one's collections is sure stir.
The coming seasons might hold a lot of more "safe" but gorgeous garments designed by the labels new head. It may come to that point in the near future that one will grow tired of seeing the same beautiful pieces. I draw this conclusion from both the fall -11 and resort -12 collection, which reminds me in many ways of this one. I'm not complaining because she has truly channeled and is mastering Lee McQueen's shapes, but her designs are somewhat more feminine, for better or worse...

Louis Vuitton

The final collection Marc Jacobs delivers for Louis Vuitton is as magical as the show, which stole a lot of the after-buzz around Paris fashion week. I think both Lagerfeld and Jacobs had the same idea in their mind: that the runway and the coulisse should be all white so the models wouldn't stand in the shadow of too striking a set. The models looked exquisite in their knee-long dresses riding the carousel horses. It's hard to forget the accessories which really stick in your mind, the shoes and the handbags had been done with a great eye for detail. I'm very impressed and craving at least five of the bags and pairs of heels.

A Hot Day In San Diego

We went to the Museum of Contemporary Art here in San Diego and we actually visited both of their two spaces located at different spots; one next to the beach in La Jolla and one in the old quaters of Downtown.

I söndags besökte vi San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art och vi lyckades faktiskt besöka båda deras lokaler som ligger på två olika platser tvärsöver staden. Ett galleri är vackert beläget i La Jolla vid strandkanten med den mest magnifika utsikten över havet. Vilket en av konstnärerna utnyttjade till fullo då han hade fått placera ett stort panoramafönster mot vattnet och sedan skurit ut fyrkanter ut glaset där man kunde stoppa ut huvudet och titta. Jag fick dock inte fota detta, hade blivit ett magnifikt fotografi.
Den andra lokalen är belägen i det äldre kvarteret av "Downtown" (stadskärnan) där den vackra tågstationen Santa Fe ligger.

Newly wed Rachel Weisz is known for her acting, being an Oscar winner, and now for being the wife of fellow English actor Daniel Craig. Another magazine thought correctly that it was appropriate to put her on the cover. Not only this but they did a splendid job with the photo: the make-up really stands out, the dirty brick wall with what looks like dried blood on it really makes a statement and I was thinking that she's holding the lonely goat in her arms to save it from slaughter.

Oscar-belönade Rachel Weisz gifte sig i år med Daniel Craig och Another magazine tyckte självklart att det var lämpligt att placera henne på deras omslag. De gjorde inte det som oftast är standard när någon känd aktris frontar en framsida utan lyckats få bilden i sig att stå ut. Jag är mycket imponerad över sminkningen; den turkosa ögonskuggan mot hennes bleka hud och starka röda läppar ger ett starkt intryck. Sedan att hon står mot en mur som ser ut att ha torkat blod på sig och håller en söt liten get i famnen, gör det hela häftigare. Kanske vill hon rädda den lilla från slakt...
i-D magazine has a fierce cover with the queen Carine Roitefeld on it. I think it was even more of a success because it was shot by a close friend of Carine's, Terry Richardson whom she loves to work with and it always shines through. It's only he who would dress her in a Six Pistols t-shirt, and of course she wants to wear a Givenchy skirt. Their combined styling makes this cover stand out.

i-D magazine placerar modedrottningen Carine Roitefeld på sitt omslag och det ser ut att bli succé. Kombinationen med fotografen Terry Richardson, som är Carines nära vän, gör att det hela inte blir tillgjort utan coolt. Det är bara han som skulle be henne bära en Six Pistols-t-shirt och hon vill självklart också ha en Givenchy kjol på sig. De jobbar som bäst ihop när de båda får sina viljor igenom.

I've landed in the US

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been traveling to the US and thereby spending a lot of time in the sun. Not only that, I've missed Paris Fashion Week and I'm feeling down because I should have updated a lot of pictures from the runway shows. So you know it's not laziness, I haven't had an Internet connection. And it's been so sunny and hot that I didn't want to just sit in front of my computer. So what have I been doing? I visited San Diego Zoo's Safari Park where I got to see a lot of beautiful animals and unfortunately some endangered species.

Jag beklagar verkligen att jag varit så dålig på att uppdatera de senaste dagarna och jag skäms speciellt när det varit modevecka i Paris. Det finns så mycket att uppdatera från alla visningar som ägt rum och så många vackra kreationer modeskaparna visat. Allt kommer upp inom sinom tid. Först måste jag berätta var jag hållit hus, det är så att jag flugit över till Staterna för en lite längre vistelse i Californien. Mitt första stopp blev i San Diego och här kommer lite bilder från det zoo jag besökte.

First we went to the Swedish brand HOPE's cocktail at Nordic Light Hotel which was a chilled out event in the lobby. Later we arrived at the magazines Elle's and Café's party at the jeans store JC, which had louder music and a lot of boys in cool jeans drinking beer. I was in the perfect mood and very exited to look through the pages of their October issue.

HOPE hade en tillställning i Nordic Light Hotels lobby och vi zippade på Champagne-drinkar och goda hors d'oeuvres. Det var inte en särskilt stor utställning, de hade hängt upp sex vinterplagg i en cirkel i taket och ställt upp ett par päls-boots på ett podium i mitten. En reklamfilm spelade i bakgrunden som för övrigt var väldigt välgjord. Därefter gick vi vidare till Elle och Cafés smygläsning i JCs flagskeppsbutik, där var stämningen på topp och ölen flödade.

Giles Spring collection 2012
The brand Giles who I'm not that familiar with, really impressed me and put a mark on my fashion map. I recently learned that Giles Deacon also designs for Emanuel Ungaro and I see the similarities the bold and sexy looks. I thought he succeeded brilliantly in making a collection that sticks in your mind like a burn mark. I must say that the silver-looks were breathtaking.

Jag kände faktiskt inte till märket Giles innan jag bläddrade igenom visningarna som ägt rum den sista dagen på Londons modevecka. Det var en vacker överraskningen och inte bara det utan Giles Deacon designer även för det heta märket Emanuel Ungaro och man ser tydligt likheterna.

Mary Karantzou Spring collection 2012
The last day in London might have impressed me the most; the designers who haven't been around for many years like Mary Karantzou showed maybe more art pieces then anyone at LFW. As has been said before, "fashion is art," and in this case the statement fits perfectly. She has created the most mind-blowing patterns/paintings.

En designer som inte varit med särskilt länge men ändå visade en av de starkaste kollektionerna med otroliga konstverk var Mary Karantzou.

Fancy walk in the park

Almost a little bit too rock'n'roll for a walk in the park, but I was dressed for a party later in the evening. This was not supposed to be an outfit for daylight.

Kanske aningen för uppklätt för en promenad i parken, men det var nämligen så att jag skulle på en fest senare på kvällen och inte hade tid att byta om innan. Så denna outfit fick skåda dagsljus även om den passar mycket bättre i nattens mörker.

I spotted a silver tie in Ralph Lauren's spring 2012 collection and thought it was a nice touch to my outfit.
