NY: Some of the hottest collections...

Helmut Lang A/W- 12
After I've looked through all of the shows comes the hard task; to select the best ones which means only picking five looks (I think five is a reasonable number and more importantly the image will not be too large for the page). It's even more difficult when a collection is as fierce as Helmut Lang's or beautiful as Peter Som's then you really have to study each garment. Lang creates for a woman who wants to be edgy and cool in the street, wearing a lot of leather and thigh-high suede boots. From a distance the red and black pattern looks like splattered paint and it's breathtaking, I got really inspired.

Peter Som A/W-12
When the first looks came down the runway everyone must have thought: is this really an autumn/winter collection? Because there were lot of white dresses, two-layered with a transparent, shimmery fabric. Later he showed looks with furs, which explains how to keep warm when wearing an angel-like dress mentioned above.

Today's Outfit - Dreaming of NY

My new pants was a success the first day I tried them on and the color as you can see gorgeous. But the size could have been smaller, they're a little bit too loose. Now I'm going to go through all of the photos from the first day of NY Fashion Week. BLK DNM and 10 Crosby Derek Lam looked promising...

On My Desk Today

New York Fashion Week - The Best Links

Today NY Fashion Week begins and almost all shows will be live streamed, my tip is to check:

First the official site, so you can see the schedule.
Secondly, all of the designers Facebook pages, they always link to their streams.

This is the best YouTube channel: youtube.com/liverunway
If you want see some fantastic Street Style photos taken by no other than Tommy Ton: Style.com
Another great site would be the one I write for, TellusFashion.com

and of course you can always pop by my blog and see the hottest looks selected from a massive amount. I mean that's why we bloggers exist to choose between all the content out there... and to evaluate, also to critique (I would like to see more of this).

Last season Donna Karen had a cool show: they opened the doors to the street where a yellow cab had parked. I hope we'll see as inspiring shows the coming days.

And Yellow Paper's Showroom

Yesterday I visited "And Yellow Paper's" showroom/store where I looked at their A/W -12 winter collection and interviewed the designer Robert Gül. My interest had risen for the label a couple of weeks ago when I saw their S/S -12 collection and immediately feel for a pair of pants with pink and black stripes. Now I was actually there touching and looking at the details which really is Gül's trademark. He focuses as much time on the front of the garment as the back, few has such sense of the back side as this man. The leather details, a wise design move, perfect on the dark orange shirt, both on the grey and black pants, and also on my favorite: the black dress with a thick patch of leather attached to the back but also some transparent fabric over the shoulders (a detail that looks even more stunning in person). I got an understanding of how important the fit is for Gül, he wants to show a woman's curves, often using French stitching to achieve this. He's uncertain if the Swedish women are the perfect clientèle for him, he believes women from bigger metropolis as Paris, Madrid and London might be more interested in wearing his creations. For me these clothes are the obvious choice for whoever wants to look elegant at work or for a night out, and the prices are very reasonable. Currently you can purchase And Yellow Paper in their store or at Meinto.se

Today's Outfit - Indoors & Outdoors

The English translation for this park is: the "white mountain park", a suiting name when snow is covering the grass. It looks kind of spooky with the branches lying all over, I would like to paint a picture of the surrounding and the church in the background.
I had a great day, I attended a press-showing at "And Yellow Paper," the clothes were beautiful and of such great quality. I'll post the photos later.

On my desk: the white piece of paper is a flayer for a fashion auction held in town this week, it's going to be exciting.

On My Mind

My "On My Mind" segment continues... Count from the right, then left...

1. Kate Moss and Lara Stone on the cover of this month's LOVE magazine. I'd like to create a denim jacket like the one Lara is wearing.

2. Pants with a crazy amount of zippers as details, is missing from my closet. I would love to have this exact pair but I have no idea what brand it is.

3. Constance Jablonski looks amazing in Prabal Gurung, an editorial from Vogue (Latin America, February). Those pants would maybe gather too much attention if you're walking around in them by day, but it would be a whole other thing if you're going to a club.

4. Shalom Harlow and Amber Valetta in an editorial shot by genius Steven Klein for Vogue (US), see all the photos here.

5. Vogue (Paris) have gotten themselves a face-lift with a new website design, and it didn't happen a day too early. I think the overview is great and I like the size of the images, they are large and that's perfect. You can watch a fun video that Emmanuel Alt and her crew did for the release, here.

6. i-D magazine has a cool cover, the model is wearing a head-piece from Vivienne Westwood's Gold Label.

The Best from Stockholm Fashion Week

Dagmar A/W Collection
Dagmar's fashion show consisted of the hottest looks during the whole week. Style.com even payed attention to them, who often lets Stockholm Fashion Week pass them by without writing anything: "Dagmar was the highlight of the day, if not the week."
I would definitely wear their long dresses (showing a lot of leg), when I go out any evening and the leather top (first from the left) was the coolest creation. The three sisters behind the brand should be more than proud of this A/W collection, it doesn't only look incredible but it will sell.

Day 3: Stockholm Fashion Week

For me the third day started off with the H&M Design Award show in the Mercedes- Benz fashion pavilion. One could spot Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M's Head of Design, looking satisfied while sitting with her legs crossed on the front row. And rightly so, the collection is a prime example of well-tailored garments, with cool details like cut-out pieces of PVC. The show ended quickly but the clothes will definitely stay in one’s memory until sold in selected stores this autumn.
Later I went to Josefin Strid's show, who showed her menswear collection. The day ended with the Tiger of Sweden show which was great with many cool hats and loots of warm coats for next winter. Something which made the event even better was that the top-model Frida Gustavsson walked down the runway several times.
